WE MUST ...

 Listen to the teacher

Raise our hand if we want to talk (nobody follows this rule)

Respect our teacher

switch off our mobile phones

do our homework

treat others as we like to be treated

be late

chew gum or eat in class

stay in class during the break

through objects

run in the corridor

shout

swear/say bad words

Schools in the UK (riassunto pag 228 iDiscover 1)

The first year at primary school in the UK is called Reception. Children are about 5 years old and they have no national exams. 

They wear a school uniform and have their lunch at school.

There are years 1-6 ( age 6-11). They have two exams called SATs (Standardised assessment tests) in year 2 and in year 6. 

Students go to secondary school when they are about 11 years old. Most secondary schools have a uniform (with ties) which is different from school to school.

There are years 7-13 and two national exams. (GCSEs - A-levels)

Years 7-11 (age 12-16)

In year 11 students have an exam called GCSEs  (that is  General Certificate Secondary Education) in about 8-10 subjects. 

Sixth form: Years 12-13 (age 17-18) 

In year 13 students have an exam called A -level exam (that is  Advanced).

Then they go to university or to look for a job.
