MIDWAY ATOLL 

is in Hawaii which is one of the fifty states of the Usa. A state which is not in the mainland.
Midway atoll is a place full of palm trees and beaches. It is in the Pacific Ocean.
There is a lot of pollution. The sand on the beaches is different colours because most of it is not really sand but plastic.
Because of the ocean currents about 26,000 kilograms of plastic waste is in Midway Atoll.
This is dangerous for wildlife in particular for sea birds. As a result, they eat plastic and for this reason, they die.
The plastic comes to the shores by sea and by a species of bird: the albatross. They bring plastic from the sea and they give it to their chicks. Plastic goes into the rivers and then into the sea. Plastic is a big problem because it doesn't biodegrade. To solve the problem we can take our bags to the supermarket and buy rencyclable plastic bottles and if we see a plastic bag or a plastic bottle in the street we should keep it and throw in the right bin

To save the Earth and to help the environment I should
throw the garbage in the right bin
fill the reusable bottle
use a lunchbox
avoid extra-packaging
eat ice-cream in a cone and not in a cup
draw both sides of the paper
always recycle the plastic
have short showers
switch off computers and stereos
switch off the light
walk to school or ride a bike or share a car
